Rodrigo Vaghi is the head instructor of the largest Jiu-Jitsu organization in St Louis, and runs one of the most successful martial arts schools in the country. As the founder of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in St Louis, Rodrigo brought the art from Brazil directly from the original Gracie Academy. And his academy and reputation, in the grappling community is well respected throughout the world.
Starting at the young age of 14, Rodrigo grew up with all the Gracies, many of which have achieved legendary status in the martial arts and MMA world, such as Royce Gracie, Rickson Gracie, Royler Gracie, and Renzo Gracie. Rodrigo himself was instructed by the founder of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Grandmaster Helio Gracie and his sons. As far as Jiu-Jitsu pedigree is concerned Rodrigo is at the very top.
Rodrigo has been and is still a fierce competitor who has won numerous championships throughout his career including world titles in open weight divisions. Rodrigo’s achievements as a competitor and an instructor have reached such a level that they got him inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame.
Rodrigo currently heads the “Team Vaghi” association in St Louis that includes St. Charles MMA, North Broadway Jiu-Jitsu, Pedigo Submission Fighting, Mid-America Martial Arts, Flashback Martial Arts, and Arnold BJJ under it’s umbrella.
Mike Rogers, the current owner and head coach at ST Charles MMA, has been studying Jiu-Jitsu for more than two decades. Mike is also a accomplished wrestler and previous professional coach of the Mclure High School wrestling team. Mike was the first to acquire a black belt from Rodrigo Vaghi, and currently holds the rank of second degree blackbelt.
Mike has competed all over the world has has won championships in both his weight division as well as open weight divisions. Mike has competed with some of the best in the world and brings a plethora of knowledge and experience to his students and team.
Mike is also a veteran MMA fighter and holds a winning record in high level MMA competitions.
